'Family man' died in four-vehicle crash

The family said he "showed his love in a thousand ways every day" to his children

A man who died in a four-vehicle crash involving a lorry made people feel "at ease with his kindness", his family said.

A Seat, a Jaguar, a Mini and a lorry were involved in the collision on the A10 between Stretham and Chittering in Cambridgeshire on 15 August.

The Mini driver, 53-year-old William Doherty, from Littleport in Ely, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car was seriously injured.

In a statement, his family said he would be "deeply missed".

"William Doherty was first and foremost a family man. To Susan, he was a loving husband and best friend, someone she could always count on," they said.

"To his children Ewan, Hannah and Nathan, he was dad, the one who offered advice, shared laughter and showed his love in a thousand ways every day.

"He had a way of making people feel at ease with his kindness and steady presence. Family meant everything to him and he gave his all to the people he loved most.

"William will be deeply missed, but the love he poured into his family will stay with them forever."
