Murder investigation after woman stabbed

Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was stabbed at a property in Reading.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said they were called to an address on the A4 London Road at 14:35 BST on Sunday and that a 39-year-old woman had died at the scene.

A 29-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Det Ch Insp Stuart May said the force had not managed to contact the victim's next of kin and urged people not to speculate online.

The woman has also not yet been formally identified.

Det Ch Insp May said: "We are in the very early stages of this murder investigation, but we have made an arrest and are we are not currently looking for anyone else.

"There is no known threat to the wider public."

He urged anyone with information to get in touch.
