Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run crash following the death of a woman in her 30s.

Norfolk Police had issued an initial appeal following the collision on Nelson Road Central in Great Yarmouth at 23:00 BST on Friday, 8 August.

The female pedestrian was taken to hospital but died last week. The driver of the black Ford Puma involved had initially stopped and got out of the car but then drove off.

A 20-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of several offences including drug-driving. He has been assisting with the investigation and is on bail until 11 September.

The collision was near the junction with Bath Hill Terrace, near St George's Park.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, causing serious injury by careless driving and driving without a licence or insurance.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to a taxi driver who they believe was driving in the area at the time.

They were driving a dark-coloured minibus-style taxi with a round logo on the side.

The force said the driver was not believed to have been involved in the collision but might have crucial dashcam footage.
