Man, 83, dies after two-car crash

An 83-year-old man has died in hospital after a road collision near Pontefract at the weekend.

The crash happened at the junction of Doncaster Road and King Royd Lane in Ackworth at around 15:30 GMT on Saturday, West Yorkshire Police said.

A grey Suzuki Alto was travelling along Doncaster Road towards Nostell Priory when it collided with a blue Vauxhall Mokka waiting to turn right at the junction.

The driver of the Alto was taken to hospital and died on Tuesday, police said.
