Plans for a new skatepark in Bedworth have been finalised.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said the skatepark would begin construction in the middle of 2026, with plans to open shortly after.

The provision is part of plans for the new Bedworth Physical Activity Hub in Miners' Welfare Park.

The skatepark's design includes a rhythm section, bowled areas, and a street section, according to the council.

The authority said design changes had to be made since proposals were first consulted on, to fit within the available budget - but key elements had been retained as well as new features added.

Councillor Brady Hughes said the council understood the frustration felt when the previous skatepark was dismantled due to structural decay.

"The new concrete skatepark will bring the provision right up to date, with many new elements that skatepark users would want to see in a modern skatepark, including high surface quality which will improve the experience for users", she said.

The skatepark aims to also attract in-line skaters, plus BMX and scooter riders. Plans state that the park will be beginner friendly, while still offering a challenge and progression for more experienced users.

Chris Watkins, leader of the council, added: "I am very much looking forward to seeing the vision for the new skatepark come to life over the next year, and hope that users will enjoy this new facility."
