A refuse worker has died 12 days after being injured in a "serious incident" involving a bin lorry.

The man was airlifted to hospital after being hurt on Spencer Road in Ryde, Isle of Wight, on 29 July.

Isle of Wight Council, which confirmed he died on Sunday, said it was a "profound loss" for the community.

The authority said it was cooperating with the Health and Safety Executive as it carried out an investigation.
