Two people have been arrested after a man was attacked by a group armed with weapons, including an axe and a metal bar or baton.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to reports of a disturbance in Radford Street, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, at about 18:45 BST on Sunday.

They found a car with "extensive" damage before the victim was identified when he went to hospital with a number of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were later arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Det Insp Luke Waller said: "We understand this incident will have caused considerable concern to anyone who witnessed it or lives in this area.

"Officers have worked quickly overnight to identify and arrest two suspects."

Neighbourhood teams are offering further support to residents and have appealed to anyone with information to contact the police.
