A dispersal order imposed in a Nottinghamshire town following reports of antisocial behaviour and violence has been extended, police have said.

The measure was initially put in place in Kimberley from 16:00 GMT on Thursday until midnight on Friday but will now remain in place until midnight on Sunday.

It follows reports of antisocial behaviour, criminal damage, and violence in the Main Street area of the town across the past two weeks, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The force added there were no issues reported on Thursday night.

The order, which gives officers more power to move people on if they suspect they could be about to create a nuisance, covers Main Street, Newdigate Street, Noel Street, Broomhill Road, Greens Lane, Regent Street, James Street, Chapter Drive, and High Street.

Neighbourhood officer Simon Boyles said: "We are continuing to take this antisocial behaviour seriously and we will be authorising further dispersal orders to protect our communities if we feel this is necessary."

A number of dispersal orders were also issued in parts of Nottingham over the past week due to antisocial behaviour involving fireworks.
