How should county's trees be protected?
- Published
People in Herefordshire are being invited to give their views on how best to protect and develop trees, hedgerows and woodlands in the county.
Ideas were needed to help inform a strategy setting out a vision facilitating better management of existing stock and "the expansion of tree cover and hedgerow networks," Herefordshire Council said.
It called for input from all sectors, including environmental and landowner groups and industries, as well as proposals from individuals.
The online consultation will run until 8 December.
Cabinet member for the environment Elissa Swinglehurst said the strategy, led by the council, would set out a strategy for protecting and enhancing tree coverage.
She added: "Its aim is to consider not only trees, hedgerows and woodland within the rural county but also aspire to increasing our street trees and canopy coverage within the urban environment."
Data has been collected and after the consultation and engaging with stakeholders, a draft vision would be refined, according to the online consultation hub.
Delivery of the final strategy is due to take place by March next year.
