A woman has been seriously injured after a collision involving a lorry and three cars on the M11 in Cambridgeshire.

The crash happened between junction 11 and junction 12 northbound, on the outskirts of Cambridge, at about 04:45 BST on Tuesday.

Cambridgeshire Police said the driver of a Renault Clio, a woman in her 70s from Cambridge, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious injuries, where she remains.

The other drivers sustained minor injuries. The road, which was closed for several hours, has since reopened.

The force said the collision involved a silver Renault Clio, a black Nissan Navara Tekna, a grey Vauxhall Insignia and a lorry.
