An annual Proms event is set to return to Guernsey for its 19th year running.

Guernsey's Proms on the Wicket began in 2005 and will take place on Saturday at the KGV Playing Fields in Rue Cohu.

Organisers said the event would "showcase the wealth of talented local musicians".

Band Guernsey Symphonic Winds is set to make its fifth appearance at the live concert which is free to attend.

Russ Fossey, head of arts development at Guernsey Arts, said it was an "inclusive event celebrating this iconic end to the Proms season in style, with amazing local musicians".

Kerrie Le Tissier, director of HIGHVERN which is sponsoring the event this year, said she was "proud... to deliver the joy of music to a wide and diverse audience".

Ms Le Tissier, who is also a member of Guernsey Symphonic Winds, said it "gives islanders the rare opportunity to enjoy live music in an open space, free from the constraints of a traditional concert hall".
