A school has been transformed into a festive wonderland so its pupils can enjoy the magic of Christmas.

Pupils at Nafferton Primary School are greeted by Santa on the roof, fake snow and enjoy carol-singing ovens during lunchtime.

The school, near Driffield in East Yorkshire, has also been decorated outside with wreaths, foliage and a wooden reindeer with a sleigh, while inside each room features lights, bows and baubles.

Nieve, a pupil at the school, said: "I'm just in a Christmas place where I want to stay forever."

Another pupil, Myles, added: "Every Christmas, Santa comes to your house and it's a bit like your house but you're actually in school."

The school's dining room has been transformed into a French market square and the dinner ladies have set the cookers to sing different carols as the food is prepared.

Head teacher Paul Johnson, 46, said: "The school is a home. The children are here for a long time. We want it to be magical for them and if they're happy, they'll learn.

"Our children are wonderful and we just want to make every day special for them and we've got a great team who do that for the children."
