More than 90% of islanders in three Crown dependencies agree with the idea of introducing support for schools to prevent people from vaping on school grounds, according to a new survey.

The response is among the results of a vaping survey in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man carried out by Island Global Research.

The survey took place in hope to understand people's views towards the consumption of tobacco and vape products and its impact, organisers said.

A total of 1,330 Jersey residents, 1,451 Guernsey residents and 1,468 Isle of Man residents took part.

The survey also found that people aged 18 to 39-year-olds were more likely to say that smoking and vaping was acceptable behaviour, with the age group tending to be less concerned about the impact of behaviours on the community.

The group also agreed that "vaping outside in public is socially acceptable behaviour", compared to around a quarter of those aged over 65.

Island Global Research said it planned to conduct further analysis looking across its whole substance use series to understand how attitudes among populations differed.
