Library to reopen in summer after Raac work
- Published
A library building in Surrey will reopen in the summer after being closed due to concerns about dangerous concrete.
Redhill Library in Warwick Quadrant will reopen following a full refurbishment and works to address the reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete discovered in 2023.
The newly-refurbished library will have a children’s area, meeting rooms, a public computer and study area.
Surrey County Council's deputy leader Denise Turner-Stewart said: “Redhill library was due to receive refurbishment as part of our transformation programme and this is still going ahead, so the library that opens next summer will be a place we can all be very proud of."
The library is also temporarily moving to the Belfry Shopping Centre from its stopgap site at Consort House.
It will be shut from 17:00 GMT on 9 November until 09:30 on 18 November so it can make the move to the shopping centre, where it will remain until the summer.
