Boy filmed video with father before crash deaths

An 11-year-old boy had spoken on film about the dangers of drink-drivers moments before he was killed in a crash alongside his father, a court has heard.
Dylan Pounds is on trial at Jersey's Royal Court over the deaths of Dean Lowe, 48, and his son Charlie Lowe, who were hit by a vehicle on La Rue de Fauvic in Grouville on 5 August last year.
In May, Mr Pounds pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving and failing to stop and report an accident, but denied two charges of causing death by dangerous driving and another of causing death by careless driving while under influence of drink or drugs.
The 29-year-old's trial started on Monday and is expected to last up to eight days.
The court was shown a video Charlie Lowe had filmed shortly before the incident which led to the deaths of him and his father.
During the video, the father and son spoke about a number of topics including the dangers of drink-drivers.
Prosecutors said CCTV footage and debit and credit card transactions showed Mr Pounds had been drinking for nearly nine hours on the day, including having six pints of lager at the Pembroke pub.
The court heard an investigation suggested Mr Pounds had been driving at 47mph (76kph), 17mph (27kph) over the speed limit - and had been making a phone call while behind the wheel minutes before the incident.
The trial continues.
