A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a passenger who was in one of two cars involved in a crash died.

An Audi A3 and a Nissan Note were in collision on Whalley New Road in Blackburn on 29 March, Lancashire Police said.

The force said a passenger in the Nissan, a man aged in his 90s, was taken to hospital with what were initially believed to be only minor injuries. However, his condition deteriorated and he died on 25 April. The drivers of both cars were not seriously hurt.

Police arrested a 33-year-old Blackburn man on Tuesday but have since released him on bail.

Officers have asked for people to review any CCTV or dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that could assist their investigation.

Det Sgt Matt Davidson said: "Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to his death, and I would ask any witnesses we haven't spoken to or anyone with footage to make contact with us as soon as possible."
