The body of a woman has been found at a house.

Cheshire Police said officers and paramedics went to a house in Pearson Street in Macclesfield at about 18:50 BST on Friday and a 72-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force said it was currently treating the woman's death as "unexplained", and described it as an "isolated" incident.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who may have any information in relation to the incident to come forward, or anyone who saw anything suspicious or unusual in the area recently," said Cheshire Police Det Ch Insp David Hutcheon.
