An open day is being held at Bridlington lifeboat station where people can meet the crew.

Visitors can learn about what it is like to be a volunteer for the RNLI as well as taking a look at the two lifeboats at the station.

There will also be stalls selling cakes, a tombola and a raffle, along with entertainment and family games.

The event takes place on 26 July between 10:00 and 16:00 BST.

The event has taken place on the last Saturday of July for more than 50 years and was formerly known as flag day.

Family games will include welly wanging, throw-a-bag challenge, ready steady crew dress up challenge, and soak the crew.

Stormy Stan, the RNLI's mascot, will open the proceedings.

Bob Taylor, lifeboat water safety officer at RNLI Bridlington, said: "Open Day is the highlight of the year for both the public and the volunteer crew at Bridlington RNLI.

"It is a great opportunity to meet our community and visitors to the town.

"Without the support throughout the year, we simply would not be able to operate and it is the kind and continued support from the public that keeps us ready for service 24/7 every day."
