TV comedy writer and sports presenter Kevin Day is set to take on a three day walk to support a Surrey based charity.

Setting off on Tuesday and due to finish on Thursday, Day will cover over 60 miles (96.5 km) visiting 13 London football stadiums.

He will raise money and awareness for Mitochondrial disease, external charity, the Lily Foundation which is based in Tandridge.

Day's "March of the Day" challenge is due to kick off from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 09:00 BST.

Ex-Spurs captain Gary Mabbutt will join Day at the start of his challenge, while for his final leg from Bromley to Selhurst Park, he will be accompanied by Crystal Palace former player Mark Bright.

The challenge will be completed during World Mitochondrial Disease Week, a global event dedicated to educating and increasing awareness about rare mitochondrial disease.

According to the Lily Foundation, every other day in the UK, a baby is born who may develop serious mitochondrial disease, or mito.

Mito is a complex and difficult-to-diagnose genetic disorder that can affect any organ at any time.

The London-based comedian said: "I’ve been helping the Lily Foundation here and there right from the start, but now it’s time for me to work as hard as they all do to raise money and awareness for the fight against mito."

The charity is encouraging mitochondrial disease patients and football fans to come and cheer Day on as he stops off at each club.

He will call at Arsenal, Leyton Orient, West Ham United, Charlton Athletic, Millwall, Chelsea, Queens Park Rangers, Brentford, Fulham, Wimbledon and Bromley before completing the challenge at Crystal Palace on Thursday.

Day is a long-term supporter of The Lily Foundation and every February hosts the annual Lily Comedy Night fundraiser at London’s Comedy Store.
