In pictures: Revellers dazzle in colourful Carnival costumes

The streets of west London are awash with bright colours for Carnival weekend
- Published
The streets of west London were brimming with brightly-coloured outfits earlier as one of the largest street festivals in the world, Notting Hill Carnival, held its main parade.
One million people are estimated to attend the event each August Bank Holiday weekend, with revellers pulling out all the stops to embody the celebration of Caribbean arts and culture.
The party began with steel drums on Saturday evening, then children took over Sunday's parade. Monday sees the centrepiece, the Adult's Day parade, conclude the event.
Here are just a few of those who got into the carnival spirit this weekend:

Adult's Day - held on the final day of carnival - is all about '"showtime", as musicians and dancers make their way through the streets

Carnival is billed by organisers as "the greatest community-led event on the planet"

It has been running for more than 50 years

About one million people are estimated to attend each year

An astonishing 30 million sequins are thought to be used for various colourful and eye-catching costumes

About 15,000 plumes of feathers are estimated to be attached to this year's costumes

It is held each year over the August Bank Holiday weekend

It wasn't just humans who got into the Carnival spirit - this pup wore a colourful green, yellow and black scarf while out on an afternoon stroll
