A woman has died after she was stabbed at a railway station.

The 27-year-old suffered serious injuries in an attack at Bescot Stadium station, near Walsall, West Midlands, on Sunday evening.

She was taken to hospital but has since died from her injuries, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

Deng Chol Majek, 18, of Bescot Crescent, Walsall, appeared at Walsall Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder on Tuesday, prior to the woman’s death.

He was remanded in custody until his next hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 19 November.

A BTP spokesperson said the force would now apply to amend the indictment to “reflect the change in the victim’s condition”.

Det Ch Insp Paul Attwell said it was being treated as an isolated incident and officers were not looking for any other suspects.
