Two arrests after police search sparked evacuation

Police have arrested two people after a property search sparked an emergency evacuation.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were investigating reports of malicious communications of a sexual nature at an address on Cockleton Lane in Gurnard on the Isle of Wight at 07:44 GMT on Monday.
Officers said they found a number of suspicious objects and evacuated nearby properties as a precaution, but no explosives were present.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of sending communications of an indecent or offensive nature.
A 58-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place, and possessing an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose.
The pair remain in police custody and officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team have remained in the area.
