A house fire that killed a woman on Boxing Day is not being treated as suspicious.

Susan Woods, who was in her 70s, was found dead by crews attending the property at Carterford Drive in Old Catton, near Norwich, at about 04:00 GMT.

A cordon remained at the scene while investigators from both the police and fire service took place but was later lifted.

Ruling out criminal involvement in a statement on Thursday, Norfolk Police said a cause of the blaze could not be established.

The force said Ms Woods was yet to be formally identified but her next of kin had been informed.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place at a later date.

A Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: "In the coming weeks, crews will be conducting fire prevention engagement in the Old Catton area to reassure residents following the incident."

Fire crews from North Earlham, Wroxham, Aylsham, Hethersett, Acle and Long Stratton all attended the blaze.

An aerial ladder platform from Great Yarmouth was used, with the urban search and rescue team from Dereham also called.
