A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a home in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to Furness Square in Bolton on Tuesday morning after they received reports of a concerns for the woman's welfare.

The 59-year-old was pronounced dead when they arrived.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, Greater Manchester Police said.

Det Ch Insp Dave Turner said: "The thoughts of the entire investigation team remain with the victim’s family at this time.

"We are committed to getting answers for them and establishing what occurred."
