Man charged with attempted murder after street attack

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder over an alleged stabbing attack in Inverness linked to organised crime.

John Ryan, 53, is accused of striking the 21-year-old on the body with a knife or similar object to his severe injury and danger of his life in the incident on Sunday.

Ryan also made a second appearance alongside two other men who were all charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin at a house in Maclennan Crescent on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody alongside Adam Tulloch, 22, and Ishaq Bernard, 18, both of no fixed abode following an appearance at Inverness Sheriff Court.

It is alleged Ryan attacked the victim in a lane between Madras Street and Nelson Street.

The are was cordoned off by police after the incident.

The man remains in hospital in stable condition and his injuries are no longer believed to be life threatening.

Ryan, Tulloch and Bernard are expected to appear again at a later date.
