A man has suffered "life-altering" injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police was called to reports of a road traffic collision on Fitzwilliam Road, a busy route through the town, at 16:40 BST on Saturday.

The man was found with serious injuries, the force said, with the A630 closed between St Ann's Roundabout and Milton Road. The injured man was taken to hospital, it added, with the road reopening overnight.

Police appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact officers.
