Driver dies after crash in city street

A driver who crashed into two parked cars in a street in Leicester has died.

Police received a call from East Midlands Ambulance Service at 18:19 BST on Thursday after a man was found unwell in a white BMW 1 series in Maynard Road.

Officers said the car crashed into two parked vehicles and was also reported to be on fire.

The man was helped out of the car by members of the public but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, Leicestershire Police said.

Det Insp Parminder Dhillon said: "Our investigation remains ongoing as officers continue inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident."
