A haul of chocolates and meat has been seized by police after they stopped a vehicle on the A12.
The suspected stolen goods were found in a vehicle that had been tracked using the road from Suffolk to near Shenfield.
Essex Police said both the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and their passenger were arrested on suspicion of theft offences.
Adam Pipe, head of roads policing, said: "The A12 is a vital route and we're using intelligence and proactive policing to intercept those who think they can use it to commit crime."
