Flood barriers have been installed, pumps put on standby and motorists warned to take extra care as Oxfordshire and Berkshire residents brace for further rain.

Pictures from across both counties have shown high river levels impacting properties, travel and livelihoods in the wake of Storm Bert at the weekend.

On Tuesday, the Met Office extended it yellow rain warning for the south of England until later today and a newly named storm - Conall - was predicted to cause more problems.

The Environment Agency said its staff would remain in affected areas throughout the week.

Oxford City Council said flood barriers such as the one at South Hinksey had been activated

Oxford City Council said flood barriers at Bullstake Close and South Hinksey were in place with pumps on standby.

However, it said property flooding was expected.

The Seacourt Park and Ride extension was closed by the authority, as was the towpath from Botley Road to Fiddlers Island.

Both the Oxfordshire and Berkshire fire services have reminded motorists of the danger of driving through floodwater.
