New Coventry road restrictions to be introduced
- Published
New traffic restrictions are due to be applied to more than 60 roads around Coventry city centre.
Some streets will become designated red routes, meaning only emergency services, blue badge holders and taxis will be allowed to stop on them.
Other streets will get double yellow lines and a restricted parking zones will be removed.
Coventry City Council said the changes would "help reduce air pollution and make the city centre a healthier and safer place".
The plans were agreed by councillors in February and have now been put forward as proposed traffic orders.
Red routes are marked by double red lines along the kerb, with no stopping allowed, even to drop off or collect.
A council report said the moves would allow changes to the city centre including the Very Light Rail test route and a cycleway.
The intention is for the planned red route to go from Warwick Road to Pool Meadow Bus Station, which is where the Very Light Rail route will be built.
It will also cover the Trinity Street/Burges Loop, Bishop Street to junction one of the ring road and New Union Street to ring road junction two.
Notice of the changes was published on 8 August and any objections must be made by Thursday.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
