A driver found themselves a "little out of their depth" while trying to cross a flooded ford, a police force said.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service was called to reports of a car stuck in water at Buttsbury Wash, near Billericay, at 15:46 GMT on Sunday.

Crews found four people already out of the car and nobody was injured.

"The driver of this car found themselves a little out of their depth whilst trying to cross a ford that is normally not a problem for their vehicle," a spokesperson for Essex Police said.

"River water levels can significantly increase following high amounts of rain.

"Please take extra care if you need to drive during adverse weather conditions."
