Firefighters have rescued a driver from her car after she became stranded in flood water.

Essex County Fire & Rescue Service said crews attended Buttsbury Wash, near Billericay, at 07:37 GMT and found the vehicle was stuck.

They managed to free the driver of the white BMW by 08:00 GMT.

Brentwood watch manager Andy Haswell said driving though flood water puts "your life at risk".

"It is often deeper than you think and it really doesn't take much water for your car to be severely damaged or for your car to float out of control," he said.
