Driver, 87, dies and passenger injured in car crash

An 87-year-old man has died after his car crashed in a street in Peebles.
Emergency services were called to the town's Whitehaugh Park at about 18.25 on Thursday.
An 80-year-old female passenger in the Honda HRV was taken to hospital with serious injuries. No other vehicle was involved.
The road was closed for several hours to allow for a collision investigation to take place.
Sgt Philip Winning said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and the woman injured in this collision.
"Inquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened and I'm appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or has any information, to please contact police, external."
He added: "I'd also ask drivers with dashcam footage of the area around the time to review this for anything which may assist our inquiries."
