A set of six stamps have been released to celebrate the 125-year anniversary of Jersey Opera House.

The stamps by Jersey artist Abi Overland took inspiration from the Grade II listed building.

Jersey Post said the first stamp in the series featured architect Adolphus Curry who was instrumental in designing the building's facade.

The stamps also illustrate actress Lillie Langtry, who was part of the first performance at the opera house, and the end of Occupation is celebrated by a recreation of the VE Grand Variety Show.

Another stamp in the set celebrates the use of the opera house as a cinema in 1957, when jockeys brought their horses into the theatre to gauge audience reaction, said the postal service.

The final stamp celebrates the return of the opera house after its recent £13m renovation.
