A motorbike passenger killed in a crash was "taken too soon", her family has said.

Beverley Hainsworth died at the scene when a Kawasaki bike and an Audi A3 collided on the A684 junction with the M6, near Kendal and Sedbergh in Cumbria, at about 14:20 BST on Sunday.

Mother-of-two Mrs Hainsworth, 55, of Pickering, North Yorkshire, was on the bike with her husband, David, "going to her favourite place - Keswick".

Mr Hainsworth was taken to hospital in a critical condition and is now stable, Cumbria Police said.

In a tribute statement, Mrs Hainsworth's family said: "Bev, always selfless and happy to help anyone, was sadly taken too soon.

"She was out doing something she loved with dad on the bike going to her favourite place - Keswick.

"We will miss her every day and hope she is somewhere nice with people she loves."

The family thanked members of the public who "helped and stayed with mum, so she wasn't on her own", as well as emergency services and hospital staff.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any other information to come forward.
