More than 20,000 people are expected to travel to and from Guernsey across the bank holiday weekend, the States said.

Between Friday and Monday officials said there would be about 11,000 people travelling by air and 10,600 people scheduled to travel by sea.

It said the air travel figures were "consistent" with 2024.

However ferry travel marked a 62% increase, up from 6,700 travellers in the same weekend in 2024.

States of Guernsey said the island's marinas would also welcome two regattas over the weekend.

Kieran Higgs, assistant harbour master, said: "We're delighted to see such a significant increase in ferry passengers over the August bank holiday, with numbers rising by around 60% compared to last year.

"The timetable operated by Brittany Ferries and the introduction of Islands Unlimited's regular inter-island sailings have strengthened connectivity, making sea travel easier and more appealing. The latest figures indicate increased confidence in ferry travel to and from Guernsey."
