A new bus service to the Yorkshire Wolds has been launched to run at weekends and bank holidays until September.

The bus runs between Pocklington and Thixendale, serving the villages of Millington, Huggate and Fridaythorpe.

The service is funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council using government money from the Department for Transport's bus service improvement scheme.

The bus will be known as the Wolds Explorer and will run three times a day on Saturdays and twice a day on Sundays and bank holidays.

Councillor Paul West said: “The Wolds Explorer will give residents and visitors easy and sustainable access to some of our most beautiful Yorkshire Wolds scenery and villages.

“Thanks to the national bus fare cap of £2, the new bus offers excellent value for money."

The Wolds Explorer will be operated by East Yorkshire Buses.
