A police cordon has been put in place at a York business park after what is believed to be an antique hand grenade was handed in to an auction house.
North Yorkshire Police have evacuated nearby premises at Northminster Business Park after receiving a report at around 13:00 GMT on Thursday that the object had been handed in to a local firm.
Officers said it was handed in "along with a number of other items" to the auctioneer's and that the evacuation had taken place as a "safety precaution".
Army bomb disposal experts have been called to the site, police said.
