More than 200 people have taken part in a palliative care charity's annual memory walk.

Compton Care in Wolverhampton invites people to attend the walk to remember a loved one and many participants wear a postcard that says for whom they are doing the walk.

The 2.8 mile (4.5km) walk took place on Sunday in the grounds of Compton Hall, the charity's headquarters.

It estimated that the event had raised almost £20,000 although final figures hadn't yet been calculated.

People who took part were also asked to submit a song in memory of their loved one to a playlist, which was played at the event.

“It is more than just a walk - it’s a time to remember and celebrate your loved ones," Sally Woods, Compton Care's community and events fundraiser, said in a statement.

Compton Care runs an 18-bed inpatient unit, as well as providing palliative care in people’s homes and support for bereaved families.

The charity set up a specific service to help children and young people manage grief last year, after being awarded almost £80,000 by BBC Children in Need.
