A "significant" blaze that has been burning at a recycling warehouse for more than 12 hours remains ongoing, fire chiefs say.

Crews are likely to be dealing with the fire at Blackpole Recycling in Worcester for a few days David Whitehead, station commander for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said.

It comes after crews were called to the scene at about 02:00 BST.

Mr Whitehead said: "The crews were quickly able to surround the fire and contain it within the building, and then we've been using an aerial ladder platform and appliances to surround the building. "

He said "household rubbish" had made up part of the fire and crews were using Blackpole Recycling machinery to ensure the blaze would be fully extinguished.

A spokesperson for the fire service added: "Some material has been removed from the building using on-site machinery, with the fire sectorised.

"Two main jets, two hose reel jets and the aerial ladder platform are in use to continue the firefighting operation."

No casualties have been reported, they confirmed.
