Energy efficiency scheme for 1970s and 80s flats

Two supported living developments in East Yorkshire are set to benefit from a £4.26m scheme to improve energy efficiency.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said both Meregarth and Pybus Court in Hornsea would be completely refurbished under the plans.
The measures, which include thermal upgrades, would help to lower energy costs for residents, the authority said.
Work is due to start in September, with completion expected by spring 2025.
'Fit for purpose'
Under the scheme, Meregarth, which was built in the 1970s, would be altered to accommodate 14 one-bedroomed flats.
Pybus Court, which was built in the 1980s, would have 11 one-bedroom flats and two two-bedroom flats.
The work also includes installing sound insulation, modern internal finishes, as well as high-speed internet.
Councillor Gary McMaster, the council’s portfolio holder for housing and infrastructure, said: ‘’These much-needed housing developments will ensure that the people utilising this supported accommodation are placed within an appropriate environment."
He said the scheme would ensure the properties were "fit for purpose".
Residents would be moved to alternative accommodation close by for the duration of the work, the authority added.
