King Charles and Queen Camilla to visit Jersey
- Published
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will visit Jersey as part of a royal trip to the Channel Islands next month.
Deputy Bailiff of Jersey Robert MacRae told the States Assembly the King and Queen were due to come to the island on 15 July.
It will be the first time since 2005 that a British monarch has visited Jersey when Queen Elizabeth II came to the island.
Mr MacRae said the King and Queen would visit the States Assembly and Royal Court during the trip, before heading over to Guernsey on 16 July.
The Bailiff of Jersey's office said the visit would be mainly focused in St Helier, with further details of the day's events to be shared at a later date.
'Extremely proud'
Lieutenant-Governor of Jersey Jerry Kyd said he was "absolutely delighted" about the King and Queen's visit.
He said: "Their visit is a reflection of the ancient and very personal relationship which has existed between Jersey, as one of the Crown’s oldest possessions, and the Monarch, which stretches back eight centuries.
"As His Majesty’s personal representative on this wonderful island, I am extremely proud of the island, and the enduring affection and loyalty of its people to the Crown."
