The Isle of Wight's troubled chain ferry has been suspended due to an electrical fault.

The Floating Bridge, which runs between Cowes and East Cowes, was pulled from service at 05:00 BST.

A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Council, which operates the ferry, said engineers were still working on the issue.

A launch service for cyclists and pedestrians has been put in place.

The chain ferry on the River Medina has been plagued with problems since 2017, when it first came into service.

After years of issues with the vessel, Isle of Wight Council has decided to replace the £3.2m ferry.
