Residents' security fears during park closure

People living at Humberston Fitties say they are concerned about the security of their chalets after being told not to walk on the site while it is closed.
Tingdene, which runs the holiday park near Cleethorpes, informed residents they would not be able to walk on the site between 16:00 GMT and 09:00 GMT when the park is closed in January and February.
Chalet owners said they had previously been allowed onto the site during those times when they were able to check their properties.
Tingdene, which runs the park, confirmed there would be no access to the site when the gates are closed, including for pedestrians, and thanked people for cooperating.
Resident Alison Clay is among those worried about the security of their chalets.
"Because Tingdene provide no security to the park after hours, we have a neighbourhood watch who want to come round and protect our properties and keep an eye out," she said.
Katie Teakle, whose chalet was owned by her father before her for many years, also expressed concern the neighbourhood watch team would not be able to access the site after 16:00 GMT.
"If something has gone wrong, then they often find any problems and report it," she said.
"Tingdene have categorically stated they're not responsible for chalet security. We're not being awkward here. We make sure the chalets are secure and if Tingdene aren't doing it, then who is?"
Resident Lauretta McKinnon added: ”We’re grateful that neighbourhood watch can keep our chalets safe. Someone heard running water the other night and the chalet was flooded. It was neighbourhood watch who was alerted to it during out of hours."
Tingdene said: "Humberston Fitties Holiday Park is currently closed from 1st January 2024, re-opening on the 1st March 2024. Access is allowed during the hours of 9am and 4pm, after this time, the entrance gate will be closed. There is no access to the park when the gate is closed, this includes via foot."
On its Facebook page, the company said: "There is a public pathway, which runs through the park to Tetney Marsh and the RSPB area, alternatively you are able to access these areas by walking across the beach footpath. We thank you for cooperation and respecting the conservation of the Park."
