Three armed men who forced entry to a house in a quiet residential street are being sought by police.

Gloucestershire Police have asked anyone who may have witnessed the aggravated burglary in Phelps Mill Close, Dursley at around 17:30 GMT on Friday to get in touch.

Once inside the property the men, all wearing balaclavas, threatened the occupants before fleeing in the direction of the main road.

Police confirmed no one was injured during the incident, but said the victims were "badly shaken by the ordeal".

Armed officers attended the scene to try to find the men, and an axe was recovered from a nearby property a short while later.

One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police said the property where the incident took place had been forensically examined and confirmed house to house enquiries had been carried out, but asked anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who might have relevant information to get in touch.

Two of the suspects were described as wearing dark-coloured clothing with hoods, while the third suspect was reported to be wearing a light blue hoodie and black Adidas jogging bottoms.

Anyone who may have doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage which may be relevant is also asked to contact police.
