Woman appears in court over care home death

A woman has appeared in court charged with manslaughter over the death of a care home resident.
Jane Barnard, 65, appeared before Bristol Crown Court on Thursday in connection with the death of Derek Davies, 78, on 8 September 2021.
Ms Barnard, of Longlevens, Gloucester, is also accused of ill-treating or neglecting Mr Davies between 5 and 9 September 2021, while working at Wheatridge Court in Abbeydale.
During the hearing, Barnard did not enter any pleas and was released on unconditional bail until an adjourned hearing on 13 December.
