A cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a car in Nottinghamshire.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Colston Road, near Cropwell Bishop, at about 15:45 BST on Thursday.

The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

All parties involved in the crash remained at the scene and have been helping officers with their inquiries, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Det Con Andrew Fawcett of the force said: "This was a serious incident that left a man in hospital with very nasty injuries.

"As we work to understand exactly what happened we are appealing directly to potential witnesses who may have passed a car parked in a layby near to the canal footpath."
