Police appeal for witnesses over fatal crash

A woman in her 20s died in a crash near Frome

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died in a crash on Monday night.

At about 23:00 BST, a silver Mercedes Benz and a silver Volkswagen Golf collided at the junction of the A361 and A362 near Frome.

A woman in her 20s, who was driving the Golf, died at the scene and her family has been told.

The man driving the Mercedes, who is in his 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as drink and drug driving.

He was held in police custody police following a medical assessment.

Both vehicles have been recovered and the road has re-opened.

Anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV or other footage, and anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police.
