A Jersey food charity has said it will provide thousands of meals for children and families in need during the Easter holidays.

Caring Cooks of Jersey said it expected to serve more than 2,000 meals during the Easter holidays from Haute Vallée School, with help from Ports of Jersey and Rathbones.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "The service is open to all families, no referral or sign-up needed. Just turn up and enjoy a hot, nourishing meal together."

Food will be served from the charity's "Spud Truck" between 13:00 and 14:30 GMT every weekday from the school during the holiday period.

According to the charity, one in four children live in relative poverty in Jersey and since last year, it has served more than 7,000 meals in total.
