Trains are being cancelled or revised and two railway stations have been closed after high winds damaged a roof.

No services are stopping at Seaford or Bishopstone stations in East Sussex after the roof at Seaford station was damaged on Monday, National Rail said.

It said contractors would attend the station later to complete safety checks before Southern reinstates services to its normal schedule.

Southern has apologised for the disruption, which could last throughout Tuesday, it added.

Services that run between Brighton and Seaford will instead run between Brighton and Newhaven Harbour until the issue is resolved.

Rail replacement buses are due to run at 30 minute intervals between Seaford and Newhaven Town to connect with train services, National Rail said.

High winds on Monday prompted a Met Office Yellow warning and saw travel disruption across the south east of England.

Meanwhile, Southern said its services between Brighton and Worthing had resumed late on Monday after disruption caused by damage to Hove station's footbridge.
